One of the biggest surprises during my recovery wasn’t about my treatment.
It was about the price.
When I compared medication costs in Spain to what many people pay in the United States, I was shocked by the difference. It reminded me that recovery isn’t only about finding the right treatment – it’s also about whether that treatment is financially accessible.
In Part 7 of my journey, I share my experience and why affordable healthcare matters to so many people living with brain injuries and other chronic conditions.
💊 The Cost of Recovery
Managing a long-term health condition often involves ongoing expenses.
Appointments, therapies, medications, and supportive care can quickly add up, creating stress for patients and their families.
For many people, the financial burden becomes another obstacle on the road to healing.
🌍 Different Countries, Different Healthcare Systems
Healthcare systems vary around the world.
As I learned more about medication pricing, I realized that where you live can significantly influence what you pay for the same treatment.
These differences can be surprising and raise important questions about affordability, access, and patient care.
🧠 Access Matters
Finding an effective treatment is only one part of recovery.
People also need realistic access to that treatment.
When medications become too expensive, patients may delay care, skip doses, or abandon treatments altogether.
That’s why conversations about affordability are so important.
⚖️ My Experience Is Personal
This video shares my personal experience comparing medication costs during my recovery.
It is not medical, financial, or legal advice.
Healthcare systems, insurance coverage, and medication prices vary widely depending on your location and personal circumstances.
