My Simple Three-Part Recovery System

When I first sustained my traumatic brain injury, I thought recovery meant finding the right doctor or the right treatment.

Two years later, I’ve realized something much bigger.

Healing isn’t one thing. It’s a combination of taking care of your body, your mind, and your spirit.

Whenever I feel stuck, I ask myself three simple questions.

❤️ 1. Physical Healing

This is the foundation.

If my body isn’t supported, my brain has a much harder time recovering.

I ask myself:

🏡 Am I in a calm, safe environment?
🥗 Have I eaten enough healthy food today?
💊 Have I taken my medications or supplements?
💧 Am I hydrated?
😴 Did I get enough sleep?
🚶 Have I moved my body today?
🧘 Have I rested when I needed to?

Sometimes the answer isn’t another therapy.

Sometimes I simply need lunch and a nap.

🧠 2. Mental Healing

After a brain injury, emotions can become much louder.

I check in with myself.

❤️ How am I feeling?
😟 Am I anxious?
😢 Am I grieving?
😡 Am I frustrated?
🤔 Am I making decisions from fear or from wisdom?

Then I ask:

“What is one tiny step I can take today?”

Not ten.

Just one.

Growth comes from hundreds of small decisions.

✨ 3. Intuitive Healing

This part surprised me the most.

I had spent so much of my life rushing that I stopped listening to myself.

Now I ask:

🙏 What feels right?

💛 What gives me peace?

🌱 What aligns with my values?

Whether you call it your intuition, spirit, faith, higher power, or inner wisdom, I believe this part matters too.

It reminds me that I am more than my injury.

My Daily Reset

Whenever life feels overwhelming, I stop and ask:

❤️ Physical: What does my body need?

🧠 Mental: What does my mind need?

Intuitive: What does my heart or spirit need?

I don’t have to solve everything.

I just have to care for myself in these three areas.

Some days my physical health needs the most attention.

Some days it’s my emotions.

Other days I simply need to sit quietly and reconnect with who I am.

Love Love Thought ❤️

Recovery isn’t about becoming the person you were before your brain injury.

It’s about becoming the healthiest, wisest, and most compassionate version of yourself today.

One small step.

One loving decision.

One day at a time.

With lots of Love Love. ♥️🧠
