Sometimes happiness does not have to be complicated.
It can be something as simple as a heavy blanket, a warm cup of tea, a favorite song, or a quiet moment when everything feels peaceful.
Sometimes it can be a photograph.
And sometimes, it is simply a memory that lives in your mind. 🌿
☕ The Little Things That Make Us Happy
We often think of happiness as something big.
A vacation.
A celebration.
An exciting achievement.
A special occasion.
But some of our happiest moments can come from very ordinary things.
A warm drink on a quiet morning.
Getting comfortable under a heavy blanket.
Sitting outside and feeling the sunshine.
Hearing a song that brings back a wonderful memory.
These little pleasures may seem small, but they can bring us back to a feeling of comfort and peace.
🌊 Remember Your Happy Place
One of my happy places is Turks and Caicos.
I can think about putting my feet in the soft sand.
I can picture the warm, clear ocean.
I can remember the feeling of sitting there and looking out at the water.
I don’t necessarily have to be there right now to enjoy that memory.
I can close my eyes and remember.
I can look at a photograph.
I can allow my mind to return to that peaceful moment.
And for a few minutes, I can be there again. ❤️
📸 A Photograph Can Hold a Feeling
Sometimes a photograph is more than a picture.
It can hold a memory.
It can remind us of where we were, who we were with, what we were feeling, and what made that moment special.
The photograph of my feet resting on the beach in Turks and Caicos reminds me of the warmth of the sun, the clear water, and the feeling of simply being there.
It gives me something positive to return to.
🧠 Your Brain Holds Happy Memories Too
After a brain injury, life can sometimes feel focused on what has changed.
There may be difficult days.
There may be fatigue, frustration, appointments, limitations, and things that take much more effort than they used to.
That is why I think it can be helpful to intentionally notice the things that still bring us joy.
It doesn’t have to be something huge.
Maybe it is your favorite cup of coffee.
Maybe it is your dog greeting you.
Maybe it is sitting in your favorite chair.
Maybe it is listening to a song you love.
Maybe it is remembering a beautiful place.
Your happy memories are still part of your story. 🌱
💗 Create a Little Collection of Happiness
What if we started collecting these moments?
Not necessarily things.
Feelings.
Memories.
Photographs.
Places.
Sounds.
Smells.
Small experiences that remind us:
“This makes me happy.”
You could keep a few favorite photographs on your phone.
You could write down a happy memory.
You could make a playlist of songs that make you feel good.
Or you could simply stop for a moment when something makes you smile and say:
“I want to remember this.”
🌿 You Don’t Have to Wait for a Big Moment
Happiness doesn’t always arrive as a major life event.
Sometimes it is already sitting quietly in front of us.
A warm cup of tea.
A comfortable blanket.
The sound of the ocean.
The feeling of sand beneath your feet.
A photograph that takes you somewhere beautiful.
A memory that makes you smile.
These simple pleasures matter.
✨ What Is Your Happy Place?
Think about a place, memory, photograph, or simple pleasure that makes you happy.
It doesn’t have to make sense to anyone else.
It doesn’t have to be impressive.
It doesn’t even have to be a physical place.
It can simply be a feeling you want to remember.
For me, it is my feet in the sand in Turks and Caicos, with the warm, clear ocean in front of me.
For you, it might be something completely different.
And that’s the beautiful part.
Your happy place belongs to you. ❤️
💗 Love Love Brain Note
Sometimes we need reminders that life is more than the difficult moments.
When things feel overwhelming, looking for one small, comforting or joyful thing may give us a moment to pause and reconnect with something positive.
You don’t have to feel happy all the time.
You can have difficult days and still make room for small moments of happiness.
Notice the little things.
Remember the beautiful things.
Hold on to what brings you peace. 🌿
