Loneliness can happen to anyone.
You can be surrounded by people and still feel alone. You can be going through grief, illness, a breakup, a major life change, or simply a difficult season where connecting with people feels harder than it used to.
🧡 Empty Chairs is a beautifully simple idea created to change that.
A small table is reserved in a pub or gathering place, with a few chairs intentionally left empty.
Anyone can sit down.
No membership.
No awkward introductions.
No pressure to explain yourself.
No expectation to stay.
You can come for five minutes or stay for an hour. You can talk, listen, have a drink, meet someone new, or simply enjoy not being alone.
Empty Chairs began after founder Dean Perryman lost his best friend, Rob, in late 2025. His grief helped him recognize how many people are quietly carrying difficult things by themselves. (Empty Chairs)
What started as one simple idea has grown into a community movement creating opportunities for genuine human connection. (Empty Chairs)
❤️ Because sometimes we don’t need advice.
We don’t need someone to fix us.
We just need somewhere safe to sit and another human being willing to sit beside us.
🧡 AUGUST 18
We are bringing the spirit of Empty Chairs to our own community on August 18.
Come alone.
Bring someone.
Meet someone new.
Fill an empty chair.
Because one conversation can change someone’s entire day.
And sometimes, an empty chair is simply an invitation:
You don’t have to sit alone. ❤️
