Hydration can be easy to overlook, especially when water feels ordinary or boring.
For me, I found a simple way to change that.
Instead of treating water like something I simply need to drink, I started treating it like something special. Creating a beautiful little ritual around my water makes me more excited to drink it and reminds me that taking care of myself deserves attention.
💧 Water Deserves Our Attention
For years, I could put so much thought into making a cocktail feel special.
The right glass.
The perfect ice cube.
A beautiful pour.
But water? It was just water.
After a brain injury, I have become more aware of how important it is to take care of myself, including staying hydrated.
So I decided to give water the same kind of attention I once gave to other drinks.
🌹 A Rose Ice Cube
One of my favorite ways to make water feel special is with a rose-shaped ice cube.
I use silicone rose ice makers and keep the ice cubes ready in the freezer.
There is something about seeing a little rose floating in my glass that makes an ordinary glass of water feel completely different.
It becomes a small moment of beauty in my day.
💎 Use the Beautiful Things
For this water ritual, I use my grandmother’s antique crystal glasses.
They have little roses carved into them, making them feel even more meaningful.
I do not want to save beautiful things only for special occasions.
Sometimes, today is the special occasion.
Drinking water from something that has meaning to me turns hydration into a moment of connection with my family and my own history.
🌸 Make Self-Care Feel Good
Taking care of yourself does not always have to feel like another task on your list.
Sometimes, we can make healthy habits more enjoyable.
A beautiful glass.
A special ice cube.
A favorite pitcher.
A little rose water.
These small details can turn an ordinary routine into something we actually look forward to.
🧠 Small Rituals After Brain Injury
After a brain injury, everyday routines can feel different.
Simple things may require more intention, planning, or consistency.
Creating little rituals can help make those everyday moments feel more meaningful.
For me, making water beautiful is not about being extravagant.
It is about reminding myself that my body deserves care and attention.
💗 You Deserve to Be Taken Care Of
It can be easy to put yourself last, especially when you are dealing with the challenges of recovery.
But caring for yourself matters.
Your body matters.
Your brain matters.
Even something as simple as drinking a glass of water can become a reminder that you are worth taking care of.
You do not need expensive things to make a moment special.
Sometimes, you just need to slow down and appreciate what you already have.
💗 Love Love Brain Note
Hydration does not have to feel boring.
Find a way to make healthy habits feel personal and enjoyable. Maybe it is a favorite glass, a beautiful pitcher, fresh fruit, or simply taking a quiet moment to enjoy your drink.
Treat your water like it is special, because you are special. 💗
